KI: Michael Levin

Renowned photographer Michael Levin worked alongside the Tytan Creates team to develop a project showing the depth and skill of Michael’s worldview. The Tytan team, in conjunction with former Director of Photography Brad Kremer, shows off all the greatest aspects of Michael’s ideas and talents.

Brad Kremer’s Story:
Brad first became aware of Michael Levin’s photographs in 2010. His photographs of everyday places and common subjects are transformed into something much more when viewed them through his lens…absolutely stunning! Because a large majority of Michael’s work is done in Japan, Brad instantly felt a connection to it, as Brad too has a bond with Japan and has traveled and documented the landscape extensively. After watching the film Hayaku (, Michael contacted Brad regarding a project he was working on, which he felt might be of interest to him. He told Brad that he appreciated his work and recognized the dedication and effort that went into it. Brad agreed to go on a trip with him to Japan and work on this project. But for Brad, there was a greater opportunity at hand. They had several conversations and Brad gave him some ideas about expanding the project, which he took to instantly. A month later, they were in Japan, bonding over beer and sushi.

Brad wanted to document Michael at work in Japan in a way that had not been explored with photographers. Brad told Michael of his idea to make an artistic representation of his experiences in the Land of the Rising Sun – to show him in his working environment in a way that complimented his work. Not to explain it with words, but to capture the feeling through the flow of the film. Brad wanted to show the process, the journey, the adventure, in a way that would give the viewer an emotional connection to Michael and his photography.

The final result is something truly original, something that showcases Michael, and, more importantly, what his work is all about. This film is a collaboration between Michael and Brad and their love for photography, film, Japan, and adventure. This is a subject that Michael and Brad continue to explore today as they plan more trips together, more films, and more adventures.
